Group Captive

A group captive solar farm is a megawatt-scale solar power plant developed under the CAPEX model at a remote location by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) company. In this model, electricity consumers who invest in the project hold equity shares in the SPV company.

Advantages of Group Captive

Lowest Cost: Industries and commercial establishments often face higher electricity tariffs, significantly impacting their profitability. A Group Captive scheme offers a cost-effective solution by substantially reducing power expenses. Additionally, this model ensures access to reliable and affordable power while minimizing transmission and distribution losses, as the energy is locally produced and consumed.
Cross Subsidy: Under Section 42 of the Electricity Act, 2003, consumers participating in a captive power scheme are exempt from cross-subsidy charges. This exemption also applies to Group Captive consumers, further enhancing cost savings.
Power Cuts: Power outages can cause significant productivity and financial losses for industrial consumers. The Group Captive scheme effectively eliminates this issue by ensuring a consistent and uninterrupted power supply.
